Do You Need Metal Roofing Repair?

Posted on

If you have a metal roof, you have a structure that should be relatively easy to care for with little maintenance. However, sometimes metal roofing repair is necessary and it's up to you as the homeowner to be able to anticipate and meet these needs. You should be able to get your metal roof installation specialist to make the needed repairs on your metal roof and if your metal roof is young enough, these repairs may even be covered under a warranty or via your roofing company.

Do you need metal roofing repair? It can be hard to tell since metal structures are often large panels that don't really give away any signs of weakness. Here are some of the things you should be looking for, however, to see if your roof needs to be repaired.

The metal panels are coming loose

It's hard to tell a metal panel is coming loose until it's completely hanging or actively falling off your home, but this doesn't mean that your metal roof doesn't have any issues. You can tell panels are coming loose with a pair of binoculars and a keen eye; look for uneven roof lines or seams that don't quite match up. Or, you can count individual contact points in your roofing system to see if panels are looser.

The metal panels are seriously dented

If a tree branch, other heavy debris, or even hail from a storm falls on your metal roof, the panels can be busted or dented as a result. This can lead to water pooling on your roof or exposed areas, so you should have a metal roof replacement done on the panels that are broken or damaged, even if it's only mild.

The metal panels are missing

Sometimes a metal component of a metal roof is missing, such as the gable or some of the side panels. If this is the case for your metal roof, whether these parts were just not added initially or your roof needs some TLC, don't hesitate to call your roofing specialist to give your roof some better care via metal roof repair. It's better to repair smaller needs than attempt to make more expensive roof repairs later.

Your roofer will be able to work around your schedule and budget for the most part. Understand that the investment in your roof helps it last longer and also protects your home's value. Don't ignore metal roofing repair needs for the safety of your home.
